HE Dato' Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi gave a rousing Briefing to a packed audience last night that included British Malaysian Society members and the Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Malaysia, Sir William Cash MP, covering foreign policy priorities, the economic situation and bilateral relations with UK and Malaysia.

Dr Tobin spoke about developments in China's financial and steel sectors and their implications for the UK, in particular highlighting the importance of 2020 as a target for China to reach a moderately prosperous economy.

Mexican Ambassador's residence Panel of Speakers

The Mexican Embassy team showcased a number of key areas of interest to members at our meeting this week including: a summary from the Consul General, multilateral affairs, trade and investment, tourism, cultural affairs, political affairs and human rights.

Slovak Republic event

HE Lubomir Rehak delivered an excellent talk and presentation with a historical perspective at the Embassy.  We heard about cornerstones of foreign affairs policy with EU removal of barriers and NATO membership.  Fuller report to follow.

House of Lords Party

Report for the Conservative Foreign and Commonwealth Council The Annual Summer Diplomatic party was organised by the Conservative Foreign and Commonwealth Council and took place in the Attlee room of the House of Lords on 20th July. It was a pivotal moment in the history of the CFCC, with the promise of a new dawn of political activism just around the corner. As a primarily social club before now, the decision to become more involved in the political sphere was a controversial one, but one that was readily accepted by those present, and indeed the membership as a whole.
